Graphic Designer and Studio Artist
Statement / Bio
From early in my childhood, making art has helped put me at ease. Being on the autism spectrum, the world often seems like a busy and confusing place. Whether making simple sketches or working on more complex projects, art has brought me peace and satisfaction. As I grew older I decided to formally pursue my passion. My artistic approach combines influences of early modern animation styles and compositional techniques from Renaissance art.
The media I use most frequently in my traditional artwork are charcoal, pastels, colored pencil, ink, and acrylic paints on either paper or canvas. I choose to work with these materials because I enjoy the level of control they grant me when crafting shapes and fine details. I usually create fantasy landscape scenes with stylized figures. My work shows strong compositional organization and attention to fine detail.
When drawing or painting these landscapes, I feel that I can create and explore other worlds. I can let my imagination roam. I also take great satisfaction when finishing large, detailed pieces that don’t require an overcomplicated explanation to appreciate. My art can be enjoyed as a straightforward artistic story-telling experience.
In addition to fine art, I am pursuing a career in digital media. I found an early love for video games, and animation. I found that with digital programs I could create artistic techniques that would otherwise be difficult to achieve with traditional media. With these two passions in mind, I found that digital media and Graphic Design would be an obvious choice for a career.
I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and moved frequently with my family until settling in Houston during middle school. My work can also be seen on DeviantArt.com.
